Getting to:
Union Station, AMTRAK Pacific Surfliner Train, Los Angeles to San Diego
Check-in at 12:30 PM sharp in Main Lobby at Union Station to guarantee seating on the train; the Pacific Surfliner train departs at 2:00 PM sharp.


Tickets
A limited number of seats are available in the event car. *When the event car is full, we will announce it on the web site; additional reservations can be made for other Pacific Surfliner cars on the same train. Reservations for the event car will be accepted on a first come, first served basis upon the receipt of payment by check payable to the Regents of the University of California. All reservations will be confirmed by email. Please send payment with full names, mailing address, email address, and phone numbers of each passenger to:

Parking at Union Station
Parking is available in the structure adjacent to Union Station ($20/day); there is also a lot on Cesar Chavez ($6/day). Union Station is also accessible via the Metro Gold, Red, and Purple lines (www.metro.net). *Please allow sufficient time to find parking in order to make sure you arrive in the Main Lobby by 12:30 PM sharp.

Local Transportation in San Diego / La Jolla
The AMTRAK Pacific Surfliner train from Los Angeles is scheduled to arrive in Downtown San Diego at 5pm. A Political Equator Shuttle will run from the station in San Diego to La Pensione Hotel at that time. (Taxis are available for transportation to all other destinations.) Participants should check in to the hotel on arrival and then catch one of four shuttles running between La Pensione Hotel and haudenschildGarage for the Friday evening event. *Local San Diego residents are asked to use private transportation if possible; there will be limited space for the general public on the shuttle.

The Political Equator shuttle will run between La Pensione Hotel and the haudenschildGarage departing at 5:40 PM, 6:00 PM, 6:20 PM, and 6:40 PM.

At the close of the evening the Political Equator Shuttle will run from haudenschildGarage to La Pensione Hotel

Getting to:
The Front at Casa Familiar

Take the San Diego Trolley to The Front at Casa Familiar. *Allow at least an hour travel time between Downtown San Diego and San Ysidro (see San Diego Trolley maps and timetables at http://www.sdmts.com). Take the southbound Blue Line to Beyer Boulevard Station and walk to The Front at Casa Familiar.

Getting to:
Tijuana Border Checkpoint – Southbound Border Crossing

Participants will walk together from The Front at Casa Familiar through the US / México Border Checkpoint to Tijuana. Our group will be met on the other side by the Political Equator Bus drivers, who will take us on a tour of the Border Zone which will conclude at Centro Cultural Tijuana (CECUT) in time for the evening events. *To reach these and other destinations in Tijuana, Taxi Libre is the most economical means. (The trip from the Border to CECUT should not cost more than $US 10).

Following the events at CECUT on Saturday evening, participants should make their way back to the Border by taxi and take the San Diego Trolley from San Ysidro back to Downtown San Diego. The Last Trolley leaves San Ysidro at 12:00 midnight.

Essential Border Crossing information
American citizens are advised to bring passports. US Passports are not required until January 2008, but a valid photo identification IS required, and a passport is the best form of identification. Non-US citizens must carry passports and visas at all times.

US currency is accepted everywhere in Tijuana.
